Anastasia Opens FCT's 49th Season September 18
Fauquier Community Theatre invites audiences to journey from the twilight of Imperial Russia to the vibrant streets of 1920s Paris with the acclaimed stage musical Anastasia, opening September 18.
Inspired by the beloved animated film and acclaimed stage production, Anastasia follows a courageous young woman determined to uncover the truth about her past. Filled with unforgettable music, dazzling choreography, and breathtaking theatrical moments, the production explores identity, hope, resilience, and the enduring power of family.
As the opening production of FCT’s 49th Season, Anastasia celebrates nearly five decades of live theatre in Fauquier County while looking confidently toward the future. Produced entirely by dedicated volunteers, the production showcases the extraordinary talents of local performers, musicians, designers, technicians, and community members who continue to make live theatre accessible and inspiring.
Director Camden Gillespie believes Anastasia has a unique ability to captivate audiences of every generation.

Lily Ayers, a fourth grader, and Lennox Chen, a fifth grader, share the role of Young Anastasia, bringing the young princess to life in alternating performances. Friends both on and off the stage, the two young performers have enjoyed learning from the cast while sharing one of the musical’s most memorable roles.
For Ayers, the music, friendships, and story have made the experience especially meaningful.
“My favorite part of rehearsals is acting, singing, and spending time with the cast. It’s really special getting to share the role with my friend Lennox, too. I hope everyone comes to see this beautiful story because I think they’ll love it as much as I do. I like that the musical is based on a true story, and it’s a little different from the movie. I can’t even pick a favorite song because I love all of the music!”

Audiences can expect stunning costumes, memorable musical numbers, and an unforgettable theatrical experience featuring favorites such as “Journey to the Past,” “Once Upon a December,” and “Paris Holds the Key (To Your Heart).” Whether discovering the story for the first time or revisiting a beloved classic, Anastasia offers an evening of spectacle and heart for all ages.
Special understudy performance: Emmy Beach will perform on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
